ANCHOR POINT world premiere at 2021 Cinequest Film Festival

SALT LAKE CITY _  ANCHOR POINT,  a feature-length documentary by Salt Lake City filmmaker Holly Tuckett about the discrimination and harassment of women in wildland firefighting,  has been named an official selection of the 2021 Cinequest Film & VR Festival. https://www.cinequest.org).

ANCHOR POINT’s world premiere is set for March 20, 2021 — the first day of the San Jose, Calif.-based festival which runs March 20-30. Due to COVID-19, the festival will be held online.

Women have worked as wildland firefighters since 1942, but they remain outnumbered by men on the fire lines, are routinely passed over for advancement and have been frequent targets of harassment and sexual assault.

Told through the eyes of whistleblower Kelly Martin, former chief of fire and aviation at Yosemite National Park, and helitack firefighter Lacey England, ANCHOR POINT  is about  the women working to shift the culture of wildland firefighting to create an equitable workplace, where everyone is free from discrimination and assault.

“It’s an honor to be selected for Cinequest’s 2021 lineup,” said Tuckett, who also co-directed the award-winning 2018 documentary Church & State. “For more than 30 years, Cinequest has been a home for inspirational filmmakers and stories. We are thrilled to be among their ranks and to share the ANCHOR POINT story with the world.”

ANCHOR POINT was filmed, directed and co-written by Tuckett, who produced it through her company FlyingHat Productions.

The film was co-written by award-winning Salt Lake City journalist Jennifer Dobner and edited by Maddy Purves, edito and producer of the documentary  “Same-sex Attracted.” The film’s original score was composed by Nami Melumad, whose scoring credits include over 130 projects,  including  the HBO Max comedy, “An American Pickle,” Electronic Arts' VR video game “Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond” and Amazon's “Borat Subsequent MovieFilm.”
