Mixing hard work and passion to change the world

Someone once said that it’s a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.  That’s what we saw in the women of ANCHOR POINT: Smart, strong and passionate women who found a profession that makes their hearts sing, despite the barriers and inequities they face.

The invitation to screen ANCHOR POINT at the REEL WORK ‘21 May Day Labor Film Festival was a surprise. But when we think about the mission and message of the festival, it’s the right place to be.

Founded by Santa Cruz-area  union activists in 2002, REEL WORK celebrates and honors the labor force, while shedding light on economic and social injustices.

ANCHOR POINT is a celebration of the women of wildland firefighting and the ways they are working to lift each other up and change the culture of their workplace so that it’s better for every firefighter who follows them — men and women.

We so honored to be a part of REEL WORK and thrilled to be part of the April 6 WOMEN CAN DO ANYTHING panel discussion with ANCHOR POINT director Holly Tuckett, Lacey England, Lenya Quinn-Davidson, and Sadie Runge who are featured in the film.
